People who are going to Aldeyjarfoss go as usual along the Skjalfandaflot on the west side. This is because the road from the North to the South over Kjölur is a popular road. It's fun to see the falls from the east side. From Geiteyjarströnd you drive on road 1 until you turn left to Staung. You drive past Staung and and continue until you reach road 843. Then turn to south and soon will see signs showing Aldeyerfoss. You can drive one in the direction of the waterfall. Depending on how long you drive, it will take about 1/2 to 1 hours to walk to the falls. After Aldeyjarfoss You should walk a little further up the river as there are several small waterfalls a little further upstreems. The scenery on this site is south beautiful. In the summer of 2019 I was twice at the waterfall fro m east and spent about 4 to 5 hours. It is also possible to take a bike to Staung and cycle from there.
